Beautiful Composite Deck and Deck Cover Replace Failing Wood Deck

When our clients realized their existing wood deck was deteriorating, they reached out to us for a safe and beautiful replacement.  After reviewing their vision for an upgraded outdoor living space, we designed and built a 10′ x 26′ composite deck complete with an 11′ x 16′ shed roof deck cover – a structure that is both functional and visually appealing.

Durable Composite Decking

To ensure low maintenance and long-lasting performance, the homeowners selected Deckorators Vista Silverwood decking material.  We installed the boards at a 90-degree angle to the joists.  For a polished finish, we added a single board picture frame border and divider board in Deckorators Vista Driftwood, creating a subtle two-tone contrast.

Fortress Fe26 Metal Deck Railing

Safety and style were top priorities in this design.  We installed a Fortress Fe26 Traditional metal deck railing with a powder-coated finish, 3-inch posts, and pressed dome post caps.  To enhance functionality, the owners chose to add a side-mounted drink cap in Driftwood, perfect for setting down drinks while entertaining.  A matching Fortress gate at the top of the stairs adds security and convenience.

Covered Outdoor Living Space

The shed roof deck cover adds protection from sun and weather, making the deck usable year-round.  The closed tongue-and-groove ceiling was painted white to match the home’s trim, creating a bright and seamless look that ties the structure into the existing architecture.

Smart Details: Animal Control Barrier

To prevent wildlife intrusion, we installed 4-inch galvanized grid panels beneath the deck.  This provides a discreet but highly effective barrier that maintains airflow while keeping out larger animals.

The finished space is now a modern, low-maintenance deck with a stylish cover – perfect for relaxing, entertaining, and enjoying Colorado’s beautiful seasons.
