Contemporary Hardwood Decks with ViewRail Custom Deck Railings

Our customers had a home in the foothills of Cascade that was ready for an exterior facelift.  Multiple decks, originally built with redwood, were showing their age and in need of replacement.  Working closely with our clients, DBS designed a fresh layout that modern and suited to the modern setting.

For the decking, they selected Cumaru hardwood, also known as  Brazilian Teak.  This premium hardwood not only exceeds the requirements for a Class A fire rating – making it an excellent choice for mountain homes – but also offers exceptional durability.  Its density provides natural resistance to termites and decay, while its warm, medium golden-brown tones with subtle tan variations create a rich, inviting outdoor living space.

To complement the contemporary design, the homeowners chose a ViewRail railing system, featuring 3″ x 3″ posts and 1/4″ horizontal rods in matte black.  This minimalist style ensure unobstructed views of the breathtaking Colorado scenery.  To tie the design together, we added a Cumaru drink cap, blending functionality with natural beauty.

The result is a set of stunning, detail-driven decks that offer both long-lasting performance and timeless style.  Now, these Cascade homeowners can relax and enjoy their mountain views for years to come.

Cascade 6 – On the backside of the house, we rebuilt three separate areas in Cumaru. The kitchen’s sliding door is accessed via three steps with a short section of railing. One of the bedrooms has a small deck with another deck below that leads to the deck stairs.
